Catching Walleyes on This Great Lake
In the spring, walleye move upstream into the rivers and streams that feed into Lake Michigan to spawn.
The Green Bay area has been noted for its trophy size walleye that are caught during the walleye spring spawning season. Anglers in the Green Bay area should look for feeder streams and rivers that lead into the larger Lake Michigan. This is typically where walleye populations will be found in the spring.
There are four states that border Lake Michigan. These states are Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. Each state has their own fishing regulations that apply to fishing on Lake Michigan.
In the summer, late evening and early morning hours are prime for Lake Michigan walleye fishing. Typically walleye will be found near the lake floor in areas that provide shade and covering. Walleye are usually found near the bottom of the lake at all times of the day.
